Ha, I agree completely with your comment about Brad Pitt. He's one of those Hollywood figures that isn't famous for his acting, but rather for his movie star persona and "hot body".

A critique of modern business or character study? I thought the movie dealt with more of the latter, oil was merely the vessel to reflect the tragic, primitive and dark nature of the protangonist. The characters, narrative and relationships in their images and execution, leant more to exploring other American themes like conquest (manifest destiny) or the mythology of success. For me the art of the movie was using these characters to move beyond the historical context and thus not relegating the movie to merely exploit period and genre. Sure business and industry are bad, but isn't it because they are filled with evil men and women. I like your take on the sound track. And hands down the best movie line in a decade, "I drink your milkshake, I drink it up!"

I'm a lyrical guy myself.
I enjoyed reading this.
Also, attaboy!
And finally, I just heard a horn honk outside followed by some screaming.
"Hey, move your fucking car!"

I think you hit on something when you referenced Dylan 'longecity.' For me, longevity comes from remaining relevant. And it's that type of social infactuation with our famous that inspired me to write my new novel, BLOOD ON THE TRACKS.

It's a murder-mystery. But not just any rock superstar is knocking on heaven's door. The murdered rock legend is none other than Bob Dorian, an enigmatic, obtuse, inscrutable, well, you get the picture...

Suspects? Tons of them. The only problem is they're all characters in Bob's songs.

You can get a copy on Amazon.com or go "behind the tracks" at www.bloodonthetracksnovel.com to learn more about the book.

So you've done movies and music, time for some literary criticism. Your fans demand a book review or your DIY recipe for dandelion wine.
